Abstract. Unsorted Baltic amber samples collected in situ at the Yantarnyi (= Palmniken) concentrating mill are treated and analyzed for the first time. The taxonomic composition of these samples is compared to that of the known museum Baltic amber collections. The authors are of the opinion that, as far as amber faunas are concerned, the distribution of genera and species is more important for comparative analyses than any kind of generalized higher rank taxonomic lists.
