ABSTRACT. Hygrohypnum bestii, previously known only from the North America, was found in the Russian Far East in the Kamtchatka Peninsula. Description, illustrations and ecological characteristics are provided. The diagnostic characters and differences between H. bestii, H. molle, H. duriusculum and H. ochraceum are discussed.
