ABSTRACT. Two species of Dicranum, namely Dicranum dispersum Engelmark and D. orientale Otnyukova, which have recently been described as new to science from Eurasia, are considered to be conspecific. The correct name of this species is D. dispersum which antedates D. orientale by a year.
