ABSTRACT. The dragonfly Onychogomphus lefebvrii is recorded for the fauna of Kazakhstan for a first time based on photographic evidence from seven localities in Western Tien Shan on Karatau Ridge and from material collected from Ugam Ridge. These are the northernmost locations of the species in the Central Asian part of the range. A rare and locally distributed Central Asian species O. lefebvrii is usually resident in the south of Kazakhstan.

KEY WORDS: Onychogomphus lefebvrii, Odonata, South Kazakhstan, Karatau ridge.
