ABSTRACT. An annotated list of the non-biting midges of subfamily Chironominae of the Extreme North-East region of Asia based on the study of imaginal material are given. The rivers and reservoirs of the Chukotka Autonomous District and the Magadan Region are represented by 71 species from 29 genera of 2 tribes — Chironomini (32 species, 18 genera) and Tanytarsini (39 species, 8 genera). Three species previously known from North America are recorded for the first time for the Palaearctic Region. Four species previously indicated for Western Europe are noted for the first time for the Russian fauna. Seven species are found for the first time for the Russian Far East. The greatest variety of chironomids is registered in the Chukotka Autonomous District (52 species). Forty species in the reservoirs and rivers of the Magadan Region are noted. By the type of distribution, Holarctic species predominate (66%), the other species have Palaearctic type of distribution.
