ABSTRACT. A new species of Dytiscidae, Ilybius adygheanus sp.n., is described from the North Caucasus, Russia. It is assigned to the Ilybius chalconatus-subgroup, within the species group of the same name, although it lacks the anterodorsal spiniferous punctures on the first four metatarsomeres, characteristic of most individuals of the species belonging to this subgroup. The members of this species group were before Nilsson [2000] treated in the genus Agabus Leach, 1817. The key to species for males of the chalconatus- and erichsoni-groups in Fery & Nilsson [1993] is modified in part to include the new species.
