Abstract. Two new firefly tribes, Lamprohizini Kazantsev, 2010 tr.n. and Pristolycini Kazantsev, 2010 tr.n., a new subgenus Lampyris (Bactrolychnia) Kazantsev, 2010 subgen.n., four new species, Lampyris (Bactrolychnia) kaznakovi, L. (Bactrolychnia) molotkovskyi, Nyctophila motschulskyi and N. genatsvali Kazantsev, 2010 spp.n., and a new subspecies, Nyctophila incisa geisthardti Kazantsev, 2010 ssp.n., are described from Russia and adjacent territories. Nyctophila caspica (Motschulsky, 1854), comb.n. is transferred from Lampyris Geoffroy, 1762 to Nyctophila E. Olivier, 1884, and Lampyris caucasica (Motschulsky, 1854), comb.n. — from Nyctophila to Lampyris. Lectotype is designated for Lucidina biplagiata (Motschulsky, 1866). Designation of a neotype for Nyctophila caucasica (Motschulsky, 1854) by Geisthardt [1982] is rejected as contradicting to provisions of Article 75.3 of the ICZN; at the same time neotypes are designated for Nyctophila caspica (Motschulsky, 1854), comb.n. and Lampyris caucasica (Motschulsky, 1854) comb.n. Lampronetes angustata Motschulsky, 1854, L. membranacea Motschulsky, 1854, Lampyris brevicollis Motschulsky, 1854, L. depressiuscula Motschulsky, 1854, L. costalis Motschulsky, 1854 and L. limbata Motschulsky, 1854, synn.n. are put in synonymy with Lampyris orientalis Faldermann, 1835; Lampyris cincta Motschulsky, 1854, syn.n. — with L. noctiluca Linnaeus, 1767; and Nyctophila lencorani Geisthardt, 1982, syn.n. — with N. caspica (Motschulsky, 1854), comb.n. A complete checklist and determination keys to tribes, genera and species of fireflies of Russia and adjacent territories are presented.
