ABSTRACT. The state of our taxonomic and biogeographic knowledge of Collembola from the African-Malagasy Region is presented country by country, with their bibliography. About 1630 species have been recorded, and 649 new species described, from that continent. We can estimate the number of Collembola species in the Region actually totaling between 900 and 1100 due to numerous probable synonyms and wrong or incomplete identifications.
