ABSTRACT. The description is given of a new cavernicolous species of millipede collected in Guizhou Province, China: Guizhousoma latellai sp.n. Based on gonopod structure, this species belongs in the superfamily Neoatractosomatoidea (Chordeumatida), which has hitherto been known only in Europe, namely in the Alps as well as the Apennine and Balkan peninsulas. However, this new form is distinguished by the absence of a trait shared by the European Neoatractosomatidae et Cyrnosomatidae, in which the anterior gonopods are supplied with a pair of flagella or pseudoflagella (graphia). This absence justifies the creation of a new genus (Guizhousoma gen.n.) and family (Guizhousomatidae fam.n.), the latter a third in the superfamily.
