ABSTRACT. The family Polytrichaceae in the flora of Altai Mountains, southern Siberia, includes 16 species of 5 genera, Polytrichum, Polytrichastrum, Pogonatum, Atrichum and Psilopilum. Polytrichastrum altaicum Ignatov & Merr. sp. nov., is described; Polytrichastrum longisetum var. anomalum (Milde) Ignatov & Merr. is a new combination. Keys and descriptions are provided for all species.
