ABSTRACT. The study of living and authentic materials of Plectocolea unispiris Amakawa and P. virgata Mitt. has revealed their identity, so the former name is referred to synonymy of the latter one. The description based on type material for P. virgata, the photographs and line drawings for the species and related P. erecta Amakawa are provided. The distribution of P. virgata is clarified.
