ABSTRACT. A new species from the family Dolichopodidae (Diptera), Hercostomus nebulosus sp.n., from Voronezhskaya Oblast (Russia) is described and illustrated. The new species is considerably different from other Hercostomus Loew, 1857 and Gymnopternus Loew, 1857 species. It is close to G. assimilis Staeger, 1842, but is distinguished by the yellow elongated cercus, also, it runs to G. blankaartensis Pollet, 1991, but is distinguished by the morphology of hypopygium and wing shape.
