ABSTRACT. 4211 lice of 9 species collected from 3063 small mammals belonging to 22 species were examined. The characteristics of species composition, abundance and occurence of insectivore and rodent lice are given. Multiple cases of lice found on uncharacteristic hosts were recorded, reflecting interspecies contacts of mammals. Specific aspects of biotopic allocation of the parasite are present.
