ABSTRACT. 45 species and subspecies of aphids belonging to the families Phylloxeridae (1 species) and Aphididae (44) are recorded from the West Kazakhstan region. The family Aphididae is represented by 6 subfamilies: Eriosomatinae (16 species), Thelaxinae (1), Lachninae (3), Callaphidinae (9), Macropodaphidinae (1) and Chaitophorinae (14). In terms of species richness the genera, Chaitophorus Koch, 1854 has 6 species, Pemphigus Hartig, 1839 has 5 species in, Eriosoma Leach, 1818, Therioaphis Walker, 1870 and Sipha Passerini, 1860 each have 3 species; the remaining 23 genera each have only one or two species. Three aphid species, Pemphigus populi Courchet, 1879, P. spyrothecae Passerini, 1860 and Eriosoma auratum Akimoto, 1983 are newly recorded for the West Kazakhstan region. The distribution, relative abundance and trophic relations of species are discussed.
KEY WORDS: aphids, ecosystems, location, distribution, trophic specialization, types of areals, Kazakhstan.
