ABSTRACT: Colossendeis is a deep-water pycnogonid genus with a large world distribution. Some specimens may attain giant dimensions of almost 70 cm in leg span. Only C. geoffroyi had been recorded previously from Brazil. Deep-waters in the South Western Atlantic, particularly in Brazil, have been sampled only sparcely. In this paper we report C. arcuata and C. minor for the first time in the South Atlantic. C. colossea is reported for the first time in Brazil, on the basis of specimens deposited in the Crustacean Collection of the Museu de Oceanografia Prof. Petronio Alves Coelho of the Federal University of Pernambuco.
KEY WORDS: Deep-water, sea spider, South Atlantic, Pantopoda, large size.
