ABSTRACT. This year, the N.A. Pertzov White Sea Biological Station celebrates two significant anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of the birth of N.A. Pertsov, the legendary director who gave the station its name, and the 70th birthday of Alexander Borisovich Tzetlin, which happened this past August. Alexander Borisovich is an outstanding scientist, beloved director, professor and teacher. Through both our best and worst times, he inspires us with scientific ideas, encourages us, and supports us — his inexhaustible patience is always available to WSBS staff, students, colleagues, and friends.
