ABSTRACT: Four new species, Teuchophorus barracloughi sp.n., T. kirkspriggsi sp.n., T. kylei sp.n. and T. manningi sp.n., from South Africa are described and illustrated and associated with mainly Palaeotropical Teuchophorus conspicuus subgroup of T. conspicuus group of species. They differ from other Afrotropical species and from each other in setation of wing, mid and hind legs, and in morphology of hypopygium. A first key to Afrotropical species of Teuchophorus Loew, 1857 is compiled. The genus Suschania Negrobov, 2003 is placed here in synonymy with Teuchophorus (syn.n.), and the synonymy of Olegonegrobovia Grichanov, 1995 and Teuchophorus is confirmed. Now ca. 120 species of Teuchophorus are known in the World, with four Nearctic, eleven Afrotropical, 24 Palaearctic, 36 Australasian and 53 Oriental species.

KEY WORDS: Sympycninae, Teuchophorus, Afrotropical, identification key, new species, new synonym.
