ABSTRACT. The article provides the description of a new monotypic genus, Richardsmithia gen.n. (Lepidoptera: Cossoidea, Metarbelidae), with its type species Richardsmithia congolensis sp.n. from the Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park in the Northwestern Congolian Lowland Forest ecoregion. The new genus is closely related to Janegoodallia Lehmann, 2014 (type species: Janegoodallia davenporti Lehmann, 2014). The article is illustrated with the figures of type specimens and male genitalia of both genera and a distribution map.
